Tattered Angels - December projects!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!! Our Tattered Angels challenge for December was to create projects using glass... I know the girls who posted prior to Christmas did a lot of Christmas themed items, but as I am posting post Christmas I have only created one Christmas themed project and the other two projects are completely different! 

So here is my first project... These are glass letters which I have altered using crackle medium and Tattered Angels Glazes.

My second project is a little Key Tag using a technique with Glimmer Glam, Glimmer Glaze and a heat gun.

And last but not least, I picked up this gorgeous Lantern from Ikea, I carefully removed each of the 'windows' and used Crackle medium on them with various Tattered Angels paints. I am really happy with how this turned out and it looks just beautiful with the candle lit inside.

some recent projects!

Without butterflies there would be no change...

This is one of my favourite sayings and everyone who knows me also knows how much I LOVE butterflies, you will often find them on my projects! When my daughter was having a clean out recently she was about to throw out this red box, I quickly grabbed it knowing exactly what I had in mind to use it for!

First I took a piece of calico and I soaked it in the Helmar Fabric Stiffener & Draping Liquid, I squeezed the excess out and left it to dry overnight on baking paper. The next day I used a Sixxiz die with my Big Shot to cut out all the butterflies. I then coloured them using various Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and Glimmer Glam paints. I then mounted them onto the black backing foam using Helmar Foam Glue. 

 

I finished them off by adding some Kaisercraft rhinestones and cutting up some inspiring words from Collections sentiment cards which I adhered by cutting up (very small) pieces of Helmar clear Zap dots. 

I was also invited to do a guest design spot by Carol Mead for her  TATTERED INSPIRATIONS vintage kits. I have not done anything Vintage for a while and had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Here is the cover of my mini album, you can see close ups and more here.

Christmas gifts and a new venture...

The past few weeks have been just crazy, so much has happened and I have had to regroup and make new plans... I am so happy and excited to announce my new venture 'Your Creative Journey' please click on the link here to check it out. 

Christmas is creeping up quickly, I did a post on the Helmar blog here for a quick gift idea for teachers or friends!

I am blessed to have some wonderful friends who amaze and inspire me constantly...my gorgeous friend Jane Clark made this beautiful paperweight for me for Christmas, the detail is awesome!!! Thank you so much for your support and friendship Jane it means so much to me! Love you!!!

 



 

Another gorgeous friend who wishes to remain anonymous suprised me with this beautiful Swarovski Christmas decoration for my tree... I just love this and her! Thank you xxx

 

I was also a part of an 'ornament swap' organized by my good friend from Germany, Nat Kalbach and I was lucky to receive this beautiful handmade ornament from Martha. You can see all of the ornaments here. Thanks for organizing this Nat it was so much fun!

I've been playing...

with Impasto and Tattered Angels glimmer mists!!! Thought I would share this quick tutorial for this Christmas frame that I created today.

1. Cover chipboard frame with Impasto.

2. Hit the Impasto with a heat gun until it bubbles.

3. Let it cool just slightly then smoosh the Impasto down with your fingers to give it texture.

4. Spray with Tattered Angels glimmer mists, then hit it with the heat gun and when slightly cooled smoosh down again.

5. I repeated step 4 two more times, then painted some Glimmer glam on also.

And just because... last night I spend the night with a great group of girlfriend's cropping. My friend Jane was playing around with some Glimmer Mist and a stencil for a project she was working on. I grabbed her leftover piece of chipboard and made this layout from it.

Christmas is looming...sneak peeks...

Christmas is creeping up, I think I am pretty organized and ready for it. I am busy working on all my projects required for Dec, Jan and Feb because I will be away for a month and I can't wait. Hubby has been gone on and off for months/weeks at  a time with the Military and I really need the break!

In the meantime here are a few sneak peeks of some upcoming Tattered Angels projects I am working on... 

I also recently took part in a Christmas ornament swap which Nathalie Kalbach organized and I was so lucky to receive this gorgeous pack of goodies from Martha Brown in Canada, it made my day, thanks so much for your generosity Martha!

 

Rasberry demos

Early in November, I did some demo's for Rasberry in Angus & Robertson bookstores here in Sydney and just thought I would share my samples with you.  Sorry the photos are such poor quality, I rushed them and now I no longer have the layouts in my possession! Thanks to my friend Karyn for letting me use her photos!

I have created this really easy but cute Christmas gift wallet using Helmar products and Pink Paislee papers. 

 

You will need:

1 piece of white cardstock cut to 10.75 x 8 inches

Christmas patterned papers

Scallop circle punch

Matching ribbon

Helmar adhesive runner, fabric glue and zap dots

Step 1  - Score your cardstock on the longer side at  3.5inches and 8inches.  Fold up the bottom section to create a 'wallet' and adhere the two side edges using Helmar adhesive runner.

 

Step 2 - Cut a piece of patterned paper to 7.5 x 3.25.   Adhere this to the front bottom half of your wallet using Helmar adhesive runner.

 

Step 3 - Corner punch the 2 corners of the top flap of your wallet. Cut a piece of co-ordinating patterned paper to  7.5 inches x 2.5 inches  and corner punch the 2 matching corners, then adhere to the flap using Helmar adhesive runner.

Step 4 - Cut your ribbon to and adhere to the center of the top flap using Helmar fabric glue. 

 

Step 5 - Cut out your sentiment, then punch a scallop circle out of white cardstock. Adhere your sentiment to the scallop circle using a Helmar Zap Dot. Adhere this to the bottom section of your wallet using Helmar clear zap dot, so that the top flap slides under it to keep it closed.
